In brief: Motorola has kicked off 2025 by expanding its affordable Moto G lineup with two new models – the Moto G and Moto G Power. This year's iterations get larger and brighter displays, along with improved durability.

Starting with the phones' expansive displays, they measure 6.7 inches on the Moto G and 6.8 inches on the other variant. The panels crank up to an impressive – at least for LCD panels – 1,000 nits of brightness, ensuring decent visibility under sunlight. They also boast a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

Complementing the visuals is Dolby Atmos audio support, along with Bass Boost technology and Hi-Res Audio certification. Both models also get support for 30W wired charging and 5,000mAh batteries, which Motorola claims can power through over a day of heavy use.

While the two handsets share many of these multimedia-focused features, the Moto G Power differentiates itself with an emphasis on longevity and durability.

Firstly, it features 15W wireless charging for added convenience. It also sports a 50MP primary camera accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide and dedicated macro lens. And selfie lovers will appreciate a 16MP front-facer with AI-powered beautification.

But perhaps the Moto G Power's biggest calling card is its military-grade durability. Having passed 16 rigorous MIL-STD-810H tests, the phone is said to shrug off drops from nearly 4 feet and withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -4°F to 140°F. It's also IP68 dust/water resistant, and is even IP69 certified to handle high-pressure jets of warm water.

While not quite as rugged, the standard Moto G still gets IP52 protection plus a splash-resistant design. It keeps things simpler on the camera front with a 50MP main shooter, 2MP macro sensor, and 16MP selfie camera.

Under the hood, both handsets run on MediaTek's capable Dimensity 6300 chip and come with Android 15, layered with Hello UX, which includes Motorola's signature software enhancements like Moto Secure.

In terms of pricing, the Moto G sticks to its budget roots with a $199 MSRP, while the more premium Moto G Power commands $299. Both will be available unlocked in the US starting January 30 for the G and February 6 for the Power model, with carrier availability following shortly after. Canadian availability will follow on May 2.
