In a nutshell: Sony will have a dizzying array of camera equipment on hand in New Orleans to capture every angle of Super Bowl LIX. Working together with broadcast partner Fox Sports, The Associated Press, and others, more than 240 Sony cameras will be in use in and around the Caesars Superdome to document the big game.

The haul includes 97 Sony HDC series broadcast camera systems, with units strategically positioned in each end zone, along both sidelines, and in various spots throughout the stadium. The halftime show, meanwhile, will be filmed using more than a dozen Venice 2 cinema cameras.

Michael Davies, Fox Sports' EVP of field operations, said the Super Bowl isn't just the biggest game of the year, it's also the biggest production. "Our job is to tell the story of the game, capturing the energy within the stadium and keeping billions of viewers engaged, and Sony is a key tool in reaching that goal," Davies added.

On the still photography side, The Associated Press will have 14 photographers and nine editors on-site to capture the game's standout moments. In total, they'll have more than 55 cameras at their disposal as well as a variety of lenses.

Sony will also have a dedicated team of support professionals on the ground to assist professionals working the game. Should anything go wrong, they'll have 65 full-frame mirrorless cameras available as loaners plus dozens of lenses including 14x 600mm and 10x 400mm super telephotos.

Sony's pro-grade cameras have been used to cover the NFL's big game for over a decade. Last year, broadcast partner CBS deployed a then record-setting 165 Sony cameras for event coverage.

Super Bowl LIX takes place on February 9, and will serve as a rematch of the big game from two years earlier. The 14-3 Philadelphia Eagles will get another crack at the defending champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, who are attempting to become the first NFL team in history to notch three Super Bowl wins in a row.

As of writing, the Chiefs are a 1.5 point favorite at most major sports books. Key to a Chiefs victory will be slowing down the Eagles running game, led by dynamic rusher Saquon Barkley.

I'm a Bills fan and am still bitter... but there's no way the Eagles are winning this game... and when the Chiefs get another ref's call we'll be able to see it in 8k and 1000x zoom so we can all agree that the refs SUCK!
The Chief's have 15 players on the field. 11 wearing chief's uniforms, and 4 wearing those zebra stripe shirts.

Well, it's been one hell of a season for the referee crews, with sooooo many questionable & missed calls that it just aint funny anymore....

I am of the opinion that the NFL should impose the same (or stiffer) game suspension & financial penalties on the refs as they do on the players who make bad/unsafe hits or repeatedly make the same stupid offenses over & over again...

As Oscar Goldman said 50 years ago "We have the technology, we can make him (them) better, faster, stronger"...

I don't see the point in having 8K cameras with instant replays and 1000x zoom available on the field if you're NOT gonna use them to ensure a fair & safe game is being played, and to assess the correctness & effectiveness of the refs ????

I am not a big fan of American football, but I would watch it if it was not for those damn ads.
I hate ads. I should be paid for every ad that is played during superbowl.

Not sure why there isn’t a chip in the football to facilitate placement… they already have the “invisible “ line for first downs on TV - how hard can it be to calculate exactly where the ball should be placed instead of relying on the refs?

Yea that too, but then again, that would make sense & be too easy....

Can't have that, now can we :D

The whole point in watching the Superbowl is FOR the ads. They're specially designed to be new, innovative, comical, and a host of other attributes, and filmed for the event.

In fact, there's usually an hour long "game recap", where only the commercials are viewed and rated.

One I vividly remember was the little donkey whose life's ambition was to be on the Budweiser Clydesdale team, pulling the wagon with the draft horses.

As for halftime shows, the all time classic has to be Prince, under likely a half million watts of magenta lights (or less), slogging through "Purple Reign", in the middle of a deluge caliber rainstorm. (We do love our spectacle, and Prince was merciless with the distortion booster).
